Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern Munich prepared an exciting DFB cup evening for us yesterday. In the regular playing time neither team scored a goal and also in the extra time none of the high-carat chances on both sides was used. In the penalty shootout, Manuel Neuer’s penalty kick decided in favour of the German record champion.
The quarter-finals of the DFB Cup were hot yesterday. After VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund had already successfully qualified the day before, numerous football fans looked forward to the match between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern Munich yesterday evening. While the initial phase was a bit calmer, the game was often interrupted by smaller and sometimes harder fouls, especially in the second half. In the end, luck decides on winners and losers in the penalty shootout: In this case, the winner is Bayern Munich.
Bavaria will beat Leverkusen from the point through
Such an exciting cup quarter-finals has not existed for a long time, would like to say one or the other. In the match between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich the decision was made at the very end. Both teams had the decision already during the regular playing time on the foot. One time Thomas Müller is free in front of Keeper Leno, but you can’t get the ball past the goalkeeper. On the other side, Bellarabi is free in front of Neuer and only has to push the ball past. Mario Götze could also have made the decision in extra time: After a good cross, the national player is flown in, can calculate the ball for a long time, but only hits the outer net from a distance of three meters.
In extra time, the Munich team seemed to be a little fitter and more willing to avoid a penalty shootout – but this did not succeed. From the penalty spot, Thomas Müller was the first to net the ball. Leno’s turn, but he can’t redirect the ball enough. Drmic Bayern-Keeper Neuer was the first Bayer shooter to admit defeat. The penalty kick was not bad, but Neuer had guessed the corner – he can hold the half-high ball successfully. After that, all other shooters pocketed the ball and FC Bayern entered the preliminary round.
